So you are laid off, and with the economy the way it is, finding a new job seems to be taking longer than you’d hoped, and you are bored.
I have come up with a list of free activities (besides job hunting) you could do with your new found free time:
- Start using an RSS reader.
- Find at least 10 blogs to subscribe to.
- Start reading blogs.
- Start your own blog.
- Write one post a day.
- Visit one new website everyday and spend at least 2 minutes reading the contents.
- Build a website.
- Join a forum.
- Start or respond to at least 1 discussion on the forum everyday.
- Read a fiction book.
- Read a non-fiction book.
- Read about 1 random topic online for an hour.
- Read about 100 random topics online for an hour.
- Get in shape.
- If you normally eat out, learn to cook.
- If you normally cook, try new dishes.
- Say “hi” to one stranger everyday, on or off line.
- Say “thank you” to one person everyday, on or off line.
- Make someone laugh.
- Learn to dance.
- Learn a music instrument.
- Learn to play a sport.
- Teach.
- Learn a joke.
- Tell a joke.
- Watch one Youtube video clip that has more than 1,000,000 views.
- Watch one Youtube video clip that has less than 5,000 views.
- Talk to your parents.
- Talk to your grandparents.
- Come up with one crazy idea every week, and share it with the world on your blog or here.
What a privilege to have the power of choosing what you want to do, rather than being forced to spend time on tasks you must do.
So enjoy it for now, that is, until your next boring job begins.
