Major brands are in big trouble, and this thought has probably crossed their mind: “if only we could have 1 million followers on Twitter, we would be saved.”
If you are on that list, here is the bad news: Twitter is NOT going to save you. In fact, if you are counting on that, that’s the probably the reason you are failing in the first place.
Yes, we are in the 21st century, but the concept is no different than what we had 100 years ago. Brands are built from the bottom up: you start with the foundation(purpose), then the building blocks(people), and finally the tools(PC, Software, Internet, Twitter, etc.). Problem is: most marketing personnels today seem to be extremely satisfied with only knowing how to operate the fancy tools. They look at the tremendous success some of the companies are having with new technologies and immediately think that just by getting on the same platforms, they could achieve the same results.
I am sorry, all the tools in the world isn’t going to help without a solid foundation or the right building blocks.
